Title/Position: Manager of Strategic Partnerships and Outreach, Canada Education Savings Program Company: Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) Pierre Labbée is the Manager of Strategic Partnerships and Outreach for the Canada Education Savings Program within Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). In this capacity, Pierre and team are focused on the development strategies and initiatives to promote to Canadians the benefits of early savings for post-secondary education using Registered Education Savings Plans, and to raise awareness of the Government of Canada’s education savings incentives; most notably, the Canada Learning Bond among low-income Canadians, including Indigenous Peoples, new Canadians, and those living in rural and remote communities. Since joining the federal government in 1999, Pierre has held various policy positions within the ESDC, Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada, where he has worked extensively on the social determinants of health and population and public health issues, such as pre-natal nutrition and fetal alcohol syndrome, childhood obesity, seniors and aging, and people with disabilities. Before embarking down this road, Pierre worked as a Parliamentary liaison officer for the Office of the Solicitor General and was an analyst in the economic sector of the Treasury Board Secretariat. A proud civil servant, who is dedicated to helping advance the health and wellness of all Canadians, Pierre was born and raised in Montreal, and has a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Public Administration from Concordia University. He is a father of two teenage children, and enjoys spending his free time watching the clouds roll by from the comfort of his hot-tub.
