Update on Alberta unification discussions

CMA and CGA Alberta announce intention to continue unification process despite the CA body exiting the talks.

Today, Alberta’s CMA and CGA organizations reported in a message to members that their respective boards have resolved to move ahead with two-party unification planning within the context of the national CPA unification discussions.

Today, Alberta’s CMA and CGA organizations confirmed in a message to members that unification of the profession remains the goal of both organizations despite the announcement from CA Alberta that they are withdrawing from the provincial unification discussions.

Discussions continue across the country at the national and provincial levels with a view to uniting the Canadian accounting profession through the creation of a new certification program leading to a single Canadian accounting designation, Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
