Become a CPA PEP Capstone 2 National Marking Centre marker

CPA Canada is looking for National Marking Centre (NMC) markers for the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) Capstone 2 module. If you’re interested, here’s what you need to know.

Staffing for the 2019 National Marking Centre (NMC) is complete. Please check back in Fall 2019 for 2020 NMC details.

We are looking forward to working with our 2019 National Marking Centre (NMC) team members to help our Common Final Examination (CFE) candidates pass the CFE and complete their CPA education requirements.

If you are passionate about accounting education and want to invest time to shape the future of the profession, we invite you to apply to be a part of our team.

Structure of work

  • Case marking centres are remote
  • Attendance at training webinars is required
  • Marking is completed through Certification Enterprise (CE), an online marking platform
  • There are 12 marking centres for Capstone 2:
    • 2 x Day 1 cases
    • 3 x Day 2 cases
    • 7 x Day 3 cases
  • NMC markers are expected to accurately assess candidate responses and provide value-added feedback.

For additional information, refer to the Important Dates and Information for NMC markers.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • CPA in good standing
  • Fluency in English and/or French
  • Online facilitation or other marking experience is beneficial, but not required
    • There will be additional training opportunities provided for less experienced and new markers to assist in marking accuracy, quality and speed

Marking commitment

  • 30 hours (not including ramp up) over a 3 to 4* day period for each individual case marking centre
  • 40 hours (not including ramp up) over a 4 to 6* day period for the mock CFE case marking centre

There is no minimum number of case marking centres you must sign up for; markers tend to find it efficient to mark more than one of the same case type (Day 1 vs. Day 2 vs. Day 3)

*It is recommended that you front-load your availability as each case marking centre will end when all the submitted papers have been marked.

Compensation

  • Remuneration is based on a fee per case marked based on average marking time** per case at a rate of $60 per hour
  • A training allowance is paid for mandatory preparation and training time once 50% of the target number of papers (per marker) for each case centre is reached
    • Target is based off the number of papers a marker is expected to reach given the minimum marking commitment hours.

** Average marking time will be determined by CPA Canada prior to the receipt of contracts. Markers will be compensated for each paper marked that meets or exceeds minimum quality standards
