CPA Canada is proud to unite with global accounting bodies and delegates at the 2018 world Congress of Accountants (WCOA) in Sydney, Australia.

Join us at this unique, three-day conference in November as we share expertise, participate in discussions, and hear rich insights from more than 6,000 delegates from over 130 countries. The 2018 conference theme is Global Challenges. Global Leaders.

CPA Canada will be hosting a workshop, moderating a panel and making a presentation at the Expo on key emerging trends that impact the future of the profession. Members are encouraged to attend and participate.

Workshop: Climate change and the role of accountants in creating adaptive organizations

Climate change will shape the future of our planet. Beyond the social and environmental aspects, it is already shaping the future of business. Accountants have a critical role to play. This session will explore the issue of climate change from an organizational perspective while showing how accountants can recognise the related risks and opportunities. It will demonstrate that existing accounting competencies are highly relevant in helping accountants create more resilient and adaptive organisations. Through an interactive approach, participants will have the opportunity to discuss and reflect on how to apply the lessons learned in their own situation and respective roles.

Expo presentation on Foresight: Reimagining the Profession

CPA Canada will also be delivering an expo presentation on Foresight: Reimagining the Profession – a comprehensive, multi-stakeholder initiative that is underway to explore emerging global trends and potential impact on the profession.

The Foresight initiative combines in-person roundtables with a digital conversation that CPAs and other stakeholders from around the world can contribute to, with a view to shaping the future of the profession. Launched by CPA Canada earlier in the year, this initiative builds on the Drivers of Change publication that was released in 2017 to help organizations better understand and respond to global trends and initiate strategic discussions within their organizations about how to become a resilient, adaptive, innovative and sustainable enterprise.
